 Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Can you design a t-shirt for Thomas' gig at the Union Chapel on Feb 28th in Islington, London? As a reminder the title is THOMAS DOLBY and Friends: Circumnavigating the Flat Earth. Straightforward text and graphics in 2 colours will probably work best. You can try a graphic on front, text in back, you aren't limited to just the front. There's no prize other than the satisfaction of having designed it, and your signature somewhere in the design! You'll need to send submissions to me before Dec 20th so Thomas can pick one in good time to print them up. Make sure they are high resolution, CMYK, please, for the best finished product that matches your ideas as closely as possible.
Happy designing!

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
you can always email me at lunesse AT thomasdolby dot com. That way you know for SURE I have it. Put the Union Chapel competition in the subject line. Or private message me here.
Putting them here is fine, too, if you feel like sharing, and I can grab them for use.

Wow! Terrific work Carbon . I hope those of us who can't attend the gigs will be able to purchase a T-shirt through the website! Lunesse?

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Right now, shirts will be sold at the gig only, in a limited number. If there are leftovers, then I am sure that can be arranged. But as it stands now...gig gets first crack. (There are reasons for this. *mysterious music*)

I feel like one of those sad, bad mimes with the invisible wall. I'm on the outside looking in. If I didn't have chocolate, I don't know what I'd do.

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
There's such a limited number, and we really do have to give first shot to those at the event.

BTW, whoever wins gets one. That's a given. Even if I am paying for it for them.
Chin up, maybe they won't all sell at the gig. It's not like there will be only 10 of them or something. =)

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Hello all, Paul Sizer here, long time Dolby fan, short time poster, but I love reading Thomas' blog, where I found out he was holding a competition for designing a t-shirt for his upcoming Union Chapel show next year. Well, I'm also a graphic designer, so I thought I'd throw a few designs into the ring for consideration. Over the years, I've designed tons of t-shirts, so these designs are built with screen printing in mind. EDIT: I've replaced the first designs with versions that can be printed with two colors. Here's the first design idea: I thought a retro/deco feel might fit well with Thomas' music (as it always has had a foot in the past and the future). And here's the second set of designs: This set is variations of a more typographic approach, with a cube Earth icon. More clean and future-feel. I'll keep track of this thread, but if you have any questions or requests about the art, please feel free to contact me via email at paul AT paulsizer DOT com. Thanks! Let me know what you all think! This is a great opportunity.

All I can say is wow in regards those designs already showing on here - they all look fantastic and I would certainly buy any of them. There is a heck of a lot of talent out there.

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
I've tried to get the designer of the Alloy t-shirt to submit a design or two, but I'm afraid work assignments from his 9-5 overlords have him crushed like a bug. I'd submit something, but I don't think jpegs of hand turkeys and potato prints will go very far. Merujo www.merujo.com

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Here's basically the same design as my previous submission, but with a grey dot tint effect added: I think the grey dot effect works best on the black T-shirt.

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Well, I thought I'd be literal with the depiction of the flat Earth, but twist it around and show it vertically, which makes for an interesting image, I think.

Good work, all. Nice to see a good range of design directions and ideas. I'm sure one will suit the tastes of Thomas and crew!

 Re: Union Chapel t-shirt competition!
Better late than never! This design is based on a plaque that's on the front of the Union Chapel. A bit 'gothic'!
