The Ghost of Live Chat

Postby Merujo » Sat Oct 28, 2006 6:16 pm

I popped my head in Live Chat about five hours ago. I was there for a few minutes, just to see if anyone else might drop by for a couple of minutes, and then I departed. Yet, according to the refreshed Forum main page, I'm still in Live Chat. :-) Technology is a weird, weird thing...

Amused,

Update: it's now 10 a.m. eastern time on Sunday, and it *still* says I'm in the chatroom!

Apparently, I have superpowers I didn't know about. ;-)

Eep! I saw the Ghost of Merujo too! ;^)

Postby mizmusic » Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:16 pm

I saw that Madame Merujo was apparently in the chatroom around 9:45 this evening, so I popped in to say hi,
and EGADS, she vanished before my very eyes! :o ;) With, oddly, not the expected pop of air suddenly whooshing in to
fill a vacated space, but the sound of a door slamming. ;) So, Merujo, about what time did you actually leave, m'dear? Just
wondering how long your spirit haunted the chatroom. ;)

Dangit, just when I was in the mood for some chattin'...oh well. ;) Sorry to say, Seasonal Affective Disorder has been
kickin' my behind lately...it's very common in Northern latitudes, at least it is in Canada. White City, is that common in
Helsinki, too? Just curious. And hey--note the oddly appropriate acronym: SAD. ;) The sky outside is gray, and so is my
outlook on life a lot of the time. No meds required, just my usual determination to keep goin'. I am, however, not my
usual cheery self, as some of you may have noticed, but I *am* tryin'. :) Lack of bright light messes up SAD people's
brain chemistry, something to do with melatonin.

And darnit, I was unavoidably out this last Saturday, and didn't get home 'til about 4:45 p.m. CST, and unfortunately by the
time I made it into the chatroom, there was nobody else there--but I wanted you chatty people to know, I *did* try. I miss
you guys! I'll try again next week, I promise. :)

Peace and bright, cheery lighting,
Kara!
:)
What is the sound of one hand clapping? A very soft
whoosh, as far as I'm concerned. Air displacement, you know.

Just wonderin', Jon, as you're further north than me! ;^)

Never heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder, I guess, Jon? So that would be my answer--it must just be the
people of Canada and maybe Alaska who are affected thusly. A rather localized phenomenon. I'm adjusting to it now, but
it's just that a person has to adjust from the bright, warm light of summer and fall to the cold blue light of winter. Even the houseplants either die or go dormant. Eventually we Prairie people all tell ourselves, "You've just gotta keep goin' regardless."

Peace and amber sunglasses to cut down on snowblindness,
Kara Kanuck!

I've a cousin who suffers, it's a bloody nightmare and it tends to cut in when a certain "threshold" is reached, which is usually a few weeks ago i.e. mid november. Just not the same when the days draw in. Of course xmas, which should be a time of merriment, ain't so. So I can understand whitecitys yearly trips to the sun!
