Is there any way to get the new tour shirts? By the time TD got to GA, all they had left were smalls in the new tour shirts, and lots of the Sole Inhabitant shirts. Sadly, I wear at least a large x.x I was informed that they'd be on the store site, but they aren't. I'm looking to get one of the shirts with the single lens spectacles (Or the one with the time capsule)... I didn't see the back, but I was kinda hoping it'd have the tour dates.

Edit: Got my answer, thanks! =D Can't wait until they show up in the shop =)

Some pictures from Sellersville Theatre last night - we had some fun with my car, we hitched it to the Time Capsule :-)

It was a great event; a really nice small theatre, packed with people singing along!

Northampton show 30Mar12

Postby die loreley » Sat Mar 31, 2012 3:39 am

Enjoyed last evening's performance at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. I've never seen TD live before, so it was an especial treat. Bonus: Another FES member sat at our table, a nice fellow from Portland, Maine who made the 4-hour trek down just for the show. TD and the gang were, as hoped, brilliant!

I attended the Northampton show last night Mar 30, and I've dreading
writing this since.
I didn't enjoy the show. I came down to Northampton from Bedford NH
about a 2 hour drive. I arrived early about 4:00 pm in the afternoon.
There were only a couple of people in front of me in line. I thought
I would get good seats because it is general admission. That was a
lie. They sat you based upon how many people were in your group.
I was a single so they placed me off to the side behind a beam right
on the edge of the main walkway. I had to sit leaning forward the
whole show to see, very uncomfortable. Not to mention that there were
people that were walking back and forth in front of me about every 20
seconds on average. I had to shoo a number of people away who tried
to stand leaning up against the beam blocking my view completely.

As for the audio, I don't know who was running the mixing board
for the show. Whether it was someone who does it for the iron horse
or if it was someone Thomas brought. But the mix was awful as
far as I'm concerned. The guitar seemed to be buried in the mix
I could hardly hear it. The drums were overpowering in the mix.
Thomas's keyboards seemed to be right, but his vocal level was
too low.

Some good things Thomas was very entertaining as always chatting
up with little stories. He played a decent selection of cuts
from each of his albums. It was understandably heavy on cuts from
AMOTFC. Glad to hear's were "I Love You Goodbye" from A&H, which
I feel is his best work. And I love that he played "Field Work".
It was also nice to run into our resident Dolby Deadhead - StevieD
and catch up for a few minutes with him.

So this was the third time I've seen him, and two of the three
times there has been an issue. When he toured on the Sole Inhabitant
tour. He started the tour in Londonderry NH, at the Tupelo,
His computer was wrecked by the airport customs workers, and all
he had was his laptop which didn't have most of his show. So
we got an abbreviated show. And now this debacle in the
Iron Horse makes me say I won't go see him again if he tours.
What has me scratching my head, is why he would come back to
this Iron Horse place which I guess he has played before. It is
an awful place to see a show.

Buz, I can't speak to your other experiences, clearly, but I would like to add a thought or three about last night's performance. Us locals are painfully aware that the Iron Horse is rather a hole, and we build that awareness into the overall experience, much like grading on a curve. I must say that TD and company performed admirably and with great good humor despite the numerous and obvious shortfalls of the venue. Excellence under adversity.

I'm just grateful that TD performed at all within an hour's drive of my farm. That's pretty darned swell. I would have been thrilled even if there was no electricity, no sound system, and we were having a raging blizzard. Now THAT would have been one heck of an unplugged performance, one for the record books. And it would have rocked.

Wow..Is it possible to have a completely different experience ? I loved the Iron Horse show, the sound was mixed perfectly where i was sitting (dead center) on the floor. I love "holes" like the Iron Horse, the place has character. My only complaint was the cost of food and beverages, $6.75 for a beer ? Eeeks !!

Despite forum membership, local radio, satellite radio, the venue's e-mail list, and other media outlets, I and other fans in Connecticut had no idea Thomas Dolby played The Ridgefield Playhouse 3/31/2012. Seriously, seriously disappointed. This should be re-labeled the super-secret in-the-know tour. Again, highly disappointed we missed this. I only found out about it afterwards from a slick town mag 4 towns over from mine. What gives, TD? Only lower Fairfield County is invited to your shows?!

I was thinking I was going to miss the show this time around, as I have to be on a plane to Alabama for work the night he comes to Los Angeles, but now it works out that I can go down to see the San Diego show the night before. Anyone else driving down? Can't wait to get a chance in the Time Capsule!

Sorry you missed it. However, the first post in this thread lists it as does the TOUR section at www.thomasdolby.com.

The publicity on this tour has been pretty good looking from this perspective. Plenty more dates available and there are cars, planes and hotels! Good luck!

This may sound like an odd question...but here goes:

I attended the final show at Largo on April 17, 2012 (in Los Angeles, CA) at 10:30 PM...and during the song Spice Train, there were I believe four "Belly-Dancers" performing on the stage. They were quite good, but I couldn't help but admire the beautiful long satin skirts they were wearing. They were a solid-color satin fabric on the sides (it looked like a medium-brown color under the lights) with lovely gathered folds. They had a straight, flat panel in the front and in the back...in a subtle printed fabric, which coordinated with the solid-colored satin. They were really unusual...and very pretty. I'd really like to know where I might be able to BUY a skirt like that. Does anyone know? Or is there a way I can find out???

The show was excellent! The only thing that would have made it better...is if he'd performed "Airwaves" and "Windpower"!

So, in the end, were any official recordings made of this tour, for future release as with the Sole Inhabitant tour?

I'm not sure if anything official was ever recorded. I do hope that Thomas did have some video and audio recorded. The sound was amazing and I think it would make for a fantastic HD Blu-Ray release. :) Maybe Lunesse knows the plans, but I've not heard of anything.

There were signs all over the Red Devil Lounge indicating that still photography was welcome, but please no audio or video recording.* In finer print on those same signs was a disclaimer to the effect that by entering the venue we were consenting to have our images used...and while that may have been for the sake of the professional photographer who I saw escorted in before the 10pm show, anything is possible.

* I suspect TMDR understood the futility of this request; near the beginning of the 7pm show there were a couple of technical bobbles, and he quipped "I just know this is going to end up on YouTube."

It would be a great loss otherwise -- especially as he skipped several songs at the late show in Annapolis and I would really like to know what Field Work sounds like live.

Field Work was amazing live. It is a song I thought I'd never thought I would see played live and was a favorite in the setlist. I'm with you on the fact it will be a loss if it wasn't recorded.

Hi,
I was told from a pretty good source that at least 2 shows were recorded for video release.
YEAH!
I was disapointed I saw no posts about the NY show I went to. It was amazing. I stood right by Kevin Armstrong. He was very friendly and would chat with you when he could. I was unaware he has been with Thomas since 1980. We have since become FB friends and traded messages. I'm re-listening to songs I did not realize the guitar part was so up front, I just thought it was a synth.
(back to the show) Being right in front of the stage I could not hear the main speakers. So I just leaned a little forward and could hear the monitors.
When I leaned back out of the monitors, I could hear the entire crowd singing along. It was great!
