Just back from Tokyo's Blue Note, one of the most nicest clubs in Tokyo with dinner-theatre seating, great sound and yes, it's very expensive in regards to tickets ($75 and up). The Blue Note seats about 250 with TMDR playing 2 sets tonight and another 2 tomorrow. We enjoyed the second set. He was in a great mood- talking at length how this was his first time to play in Japan and how Ryuichi Sakamoto chided him last year for never having played here and how Ryuichi hooked him up with Blue Note to make this happen. TMDR's voice really hasn't changed with age and except for a few high notes he can really, really sing. His band included a drummer as well as Kevin Armstrong on guitar. He was joined by Sendai, Japan resident Matthew Seligman on bass for 3 numbers! You all should really look forward to this tour. This set list isn't in order, but I think I have everything covered: about 90 minutes. Also, nothing on sale at the show… boo.
