Right Michael! In addition, how about "We Are The World" (co-written with Lionel Ritchie, but I'll bet I know who contributed the most!)
I'm not sure about others, I know that Michael wanted to affect society, but the truth is most of his songs were just great songs to dance to, with nice melodies and beautiful production. He gave himself the title of "King of Pop", but it was a little bit of wishful thinking, wasn't it?
I vote for TMDR as "King of 80s Pop"!
my personal fave MJ numbers:
Shake Your Body Down
Human Nature
Billie Jean
Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough
Remember the Time
... I don't think those were world-shakers or society-changers, but just great songs.
