Hey, you can get lessons from Harper Robertson. Apparently she TEACHES it. Is that COOL or what?!?

Yeah, that IS mega-cool. I can't either straight-out copy things.

As for today, I had my German oral. Well I came out thinking it went awful, but according to what a friend of mine heard, the teacher thought it was great. So, who knows, I won't know the result untill August. The Japanese test I will be re-doing in my free period on Friday morning.

I was also felt quite ill, and the hayfever's kicking in. This was so humiliating, the test was quite simply copying out the words that were written on the paper as accurately as possible.

ohh, that's... man....i've seen that one before... is it 'ru'? I gotta learn Japanese...

Retro, i am so sorry to hear that. As a student, I offer you my condolences. :(

Well. you know what they say, shikata ga nai...

Actually, it's "i", but what does shikata ga nai mean?

rickwith wrote:true...it's done.

will you have another opportunity to make this up?

Yes, fortunately, I have another chance to make a mess of the test.

But right now I have to focus for my German oral exam tomorrow morning. Fortunately the French oral has been postponed a week from when it was, so I have extra time to study for that. Then of course my French exchange partner's coming tomorrow afternoon. Oy Oy Oy, quiero unos vacaciones.

OH DUH! Of course it's not 'ru'... *sigh* :(

i just purchased my second mac mini, this one with the intel core duo and super drive, also the 23" display.
This is such an excellent package...and without the tower.
Also, I think I've just witnessed my first positron annihilation.

Since we got back from the Hospital with 'Baby Wireless' the last 3 nights have been great. He has been fed and gone down to sleep no problem, only up twice a night in the wee small hours for more feeds and nappy changing. I know this can't possibly last but for now we are just counting our blessings.

Yesterday was administrative professionals day, and because that is such an ambiguous description I managed to con mummy into taking me to a restaurant last night. We went to this place called the cracker barrel....once again....The Cracker Barrel If you haven't ever been its essentially the melding of a restaurant and a hillbilly garage sale...together at last.... Interest piqued? I thought so! I had the lemon pepper encrusted salmon with turnip greens mashed potatos(brown gravy! ) and fried okra. It was rib stickin.... Mom had ham.... So anyway the walls are adorned with all the things you might expect to find at a place like that. Cast iron skillets, hunting rifles.... some weird farm stuff.... I started to realize that this restaurant must be sort of a touristy place because they obviously arent trying to appeal to Oklahomans with that decorum. I mean you could walk into anyone here's living room if you wanted to see animal heads and skillets on the wall... but i digress... The most interesting thing was when we got up to the cashier to pay and she asked us this "Would you care for some mints or some lotion?" Sure enough with a wave of her hand she indicated some mints on one side of the register and on the other several bottles of lotion.... Being the sardonic creep that I am I really just couldnt resist so I said "Mints or lotion ma! Whats it gonna be??" This is where she started to get embarased. So I followed up with " Hey listen if you have any mint flavored lotion im sold!" The cashier was a good sport and humored me with "heh heh....(insert nervouse peripheral glances here) I uh...dont think we have anything like that...." Now this is where a decent human being would let the matter lapse but instead I continued on with "Okay sure... but what if I were to chew the mint up halfway and then squirt some of the lotion in my mouth ....do ya...do you think that would be about the same.....no?" I think she started looking for security at that point so I just said " What? now forget it thats crazy talk...eating lotion....anyway take care..." So we left....The Salmon was pretty good....I only wish now my throat was not so dry and cracked....

I've heard him described in a lot of ways over the years working around him with other bands, but never as a nice, down to earth guy... that's a new one....
he really cracks me up continuously lying about his age (he'll actually be 65 on July 10)..

Rock on Ronaldo!!

here's my fave pic of mr Ronald Padavona back in the 50's...

Today my class went to Leeds castle with our French Exchange partners and had a good game of England v. France soccer. Nobody really won, we didn't really care about the scores. A great day out.

I just baked two kinds of cookies for my daughter's 2nd grade class. And I only ate four of them!
Okay...five...counting the pieces of that one that fell on the floor... :D
I've got a balcony full of stuff I finally cleaned out of my storage unit 300 miles away and now I have to sort and decide what to keep and what to discard. Happy to find some photos of my late father (late these 20 years, actually  ) and various souvenirs of my experiences from Fiji (when I was 4) to a super-fantastic mid-term exam I pulled off my last year as a grad student.
I suspect, though, that it's time to let some things go.
At least in order to make room for more -- heh heh... :)

Getting ready for a boat trip along the canals in London, travellin through the city without traffic.
Seeing the city from a different point of view, hearing it without the usual noise, should be good.

Had lunch today with Sandy Ausbrooks... he was a mate of mine in grammar school in the 50's... I had not seen him since 1966... we found each other via the net about 3 yrs back
he & his wife were passing thru town & we spent a couple of hours reminiscing ...
ever try to catch up 41 years over a lunch??
it sure was fun...

My Earl Grey (with extra Bergamot oil) tastes particularly good tonite...
mmmmmmm tea, how would we survive without it??

Well, I just steam-cleaned the walls of our kitchen. (It's spring after all!)

The question on my mind is exactly how to small children get spots of food so high up those walls?
Luckily I had the beautiful music from our very own Rickwith to accompany me with the task.

I'll never work that out how those kids do that! Wireless: take note!

Cheers,
Jon

Okay, I thought I'd finally pop into this section.

Today I'm working as always, but yesterday was a new adventure for me. I actually attended my first Indy Car race. One of my best friends had an extra ticket, and he asked if I wanted to go. Simply put, it was amazing. The cars were flying by us a 210-220 mph, and were beautiful to watch. I'm not a NASCAR guy, but there is something about Indy cars that are fascinating to me. Maybe it was the speed, or the beauty of the cars passing each other on the straight aways, or possibly Danica Patrick's smoking hot...wait...errrr...sorry...I digress. Anyhow, I'd love to go overseas to catch a race with the Ferrari's, Porsche's, and other awesome cars. I'd love to see Michael Shumaker perform his racing magic for team Ferrari.

Now, back to work. Fun.

Have a great week everyone! Cheers!

Brian

PS: Radium Girl: COOL on hanging with Dio. He is on my current iPod playlist. :)

well there are certain unquestionable similarities, i suppose.

i'm sitting here ruminating over the obvious benefits of a three day work week..and the logistical complexities of a 50' chocolate effigy of L.A.

Well I was watching Conan the Barbarian last night and during his stint as a sort of feral cage fighter they took him off to the the East where he learned to fight like a samurai and stuff. then of course that big hairy guy with the red beard let him go and he wandered back to some sort of pseudo Europe on foot... Everyone was dirty and white like in barbarian land but they wore asian style clothes, so maybe the Fins used to live there! See that might explain some of that writing being borrowed. Who know they probably even knew Conan!

Yeah, a lot of former Soviet countries have some very Asian-looking traditional clothing. I like to call them "white Asians".
