mine has been on Pre-Order at Amazon since July.... it's supposed to ship the week before Xmas.....wishing I lived near either LA or NYC... I'd LOVE to see it on the big screen in this version... I saw the directors cut in a theater back in the 90's and that was golden for sure....

Just ordered the briefcase. I wish I had a blue-ray player for the HD version. I bet that is stunning on the right TV.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Indeed and many thanks! It will be the centerpiece of Christmas gifts for my wife. Blade Runner is her all-time favorite movie. The "Briefcase Edition" will just make her day so very nicely.

I gave my wife the Ultimate Collector's Edition this morning for Christmas. She was very happy. :D

Packaging was top-notch. Unicorn was silver(y) and solid, Spinner car was too cool.

I got mine (the European tin edition, no briefcase) a while back, and it absolutely totally rocks! I first watched the final cut, which is an altogether brilliant film. This is how Blade Runner should be, IMHO. George Lucas, take note on how to revisit old films ;) It is the old Blade Runner, but better. All the small details that were fixed, without changing the film (Greedo shot first, anyone ;)?).
It is amazing the way this 25 year old film doesn't feel dated in any way.
The I watched the marvellous Dangerous Days documentary, clocking in at around three hours or so...
Then most of the other supplementary material, including Philip K Dick interviews.
Finally I watched the workprint with commentary track. That was interesting as well, but not as interesting or different as I'd have thought.
All in all, the tin, with the fold-out digipak of all the discs, and the frame from the film, is absolutely gorgeous!
One of my best ever purchases, especially at around 25 Euros pre-ordered from Play.com.

Mine was waiting at my office when I returned from my mini Christmas vacation today. The packaging looks great and I'm dying to watch each version. Now I wish I'd gotten the Blu-Ray version as my parent's bought me a Playstation 3 for Christmas. I'll finally get to watch true HD movies!! :)

I hope everyone had a great holiday!

Cheers!

I broke down and bought the 4 disc set today. Just starting to watch the US theatrical release, then I'll watch the Final cut.

Just saw the Final Cut on the BIG screen here in Austin... VERY cool, indeed! There is about 4 minutes of additional footage, but it seems to be just extended existing scenes rather than new scenes (in most cases it seems to be extending some of the violence that may have been cut by censors the first time around. I am pretty much convinced at this point that Deckard IS in fact a replicant himself. Lots of clues in support of it in this version...

Vangelis' music is just so ideally suited for this movie, far more than his score for Chariots of Fire (an electronic score for a fiml about turn-of-the-century olympians? Come on...).

Terrific stuff. Glad I have the DVD to see this periodically.

Dangerous Days - the making of Bladerunner - included in the reissued sets - is almost as involving as the film - okay, at nearly 3 hours you have to be a fan to watch it, but for all the included details about the movie, it beats most 'making of' documentaries.

My Unicorn is now with me at work - hurrah !

I also got the 3 CD set that contains new Vangelis music especially for the new re-release. So far I like it all. I don't know if it is available in the US, but I ordered it at www.amazon.co.uk. The link is: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blade-Runner-Tr ... 557&sr=8-4.

Cheers!

PS. Oops, I guess it has been released in the US. Here you go: http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Runner-Tril ... 607&sr=8-7

My wife and I watched the final cut version over the weekend. As I've mentioned, this is her all-time favorite film - point being she caught every single change in this version - from script to matte paintings, everything - I had more fun watching her watch the film for the differences than I did watching it myself. The things I took away from this version were how well the restoration was done. The video has a crispness the original lacked. The sound (Foley and score) was also very nicely (re)done.

A mention about Prometheus (shooting in/near London soon) - an aliens prequel?

The Blade Runner universe has a lot to offer. This could be good (or really bad). There was already one film set in the same world: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... %28film%29

A prequel set in the BR universe? Maybe, and only just maybe.

*getting popcorn popped!*

It did seem like something was "missing" from the original movie. It will be great to see the new DVD with all the deleted scenes!

Deckard, if he is indeed a replicant, would have amazingly complex programming if it allows him to age to the extent that Harrison Ford has aged since Blade Runner. Since I am convinced by Scott's Director's/Final cut that Deckard IS a repilcant, and the other models of replicants don't actually age, then a sequel with Ford is not a great plan in my book...

But they do bleed, have a limited longevity and expiration date ... so maybe they can age?

However, considering Harrison Ford wasn't too happy with the original BR, I doubt he'd be recalled from retirement, even if he had a visit from Gaff.

Update:

"Blade Runner 2 is officially underway as the news of this comes on the heels of Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction with this summer’s sci-fi hit Prometheus. Scott will be taking up the director’s chair once again and Blade Runner (1982) co-scribe Hampton Francher is back doing writing duties according to Alcon Entertainment’s lengthy press release (below).

The movie will be a “total reinvention”, said producer Andrew Kosgrove. This means Harrison Ford will likely not be a part of the sequel in spite of the story taking place merely “some years” after that of the first film. Furthermore, the sequel will feature a female protagonist, something that Scott has been long drawn to and has used in his movies.

Kosgrove also stated that he sees shooting to begin in 2013, sometime just after Ridley Scott finishes work on The Counselor starring Michael Fassbender. And around the time when shooting does begin, we expect an announcement of a totally different name for the Blade Runner sequel much like how Prometheus was to Alien."
