Studio shots.

Lunesse asked what my graphics studio looks like, so I said I'd post a few shots so you can get a feel for it.

This first is from June 2005, outside looking south at my north-facing window.

Image

The studio is in our carriage house, above the garage. It's one room, with a kitchenette (no stove), and a full bath (with clawfoot tub!)

This next one is from April 2006. Yes, we can get a fair amount of snow here at times. Just not like Finland. :)

Image

This last is inside the studio. An auto-photo. I will post a new one. This from June 2005 is outdated, as it shows my old G4 computer & 17" monitor. I've upgraded (finally!) to a G5 with a 20" Cinema display. Also, remodelled the interior of the studio which I hadn't touched since making the carriage house my office back in 1991. Much overdue…

Image

Will see about grabbing some more shots.

How about some other Flat Earthers: what does your space look like? :)

haha, i didnt want to say anything.... but....! :D

Im actually based at the back of a warehouse so I can run my digital press (anyone need any printing?) so the windpower (geddit???) that blows through actually blows away any rubbish that is on my desk.

As I said, I've redone my studio. Just need to get a current digital shot to show off the difference.

After I clean my desk…

You both have nice digs! Messy or clean, I'm sure a lot of good work is produced from them! :D

Okay, bassjase. New studio shots.

Here is the current version of my desktop. Now a G5 computer & new 21" Cinema monitor:

Image

When I turn to my right, I have access to the old G4 computer. That's my Oki color laser printer on the far left, an Oki fax to the far right:

Image

Turning right again shows the back of my studio. This window faces east & I have the glorious view of the neighbor's garage roof:

Image

Yes that is a lava lamp…

Lastly, to the left of my desk is the bookcase I installed on the wall. The door at the far right goes into the bathroom:

Image

There is also a kitchenette with sink, microwave & mini-refrigerator just to the left of the bookcase.

The bath is a full-bath, with a very old claw-foot tub. Heck, you could camp out in this place!

My favorite spot in the whole world. My wife thinks it's an incredible eyesore though.
Had to stich this one together in Paintshop Pro. Room is too small to get back far enough.

Your space is so big that my screen had to resize itself! Do you record music? Produce it? Is any online for us to hear? :D

Really just a hobby

Postby SpaceIntruderDetector » Sat Aug 12, 2006 3:05 pm

I haven't posted anything I've done in quite a long time anywhere. It's just a hobby with me always has been. I never entertained the idea of ever doing anything for money with this stuff. I just experiment and have fun with it ,kind of like being in my own spaceship or something  Alot of my stuff is on the harsh side sort of a cross between "Cabaret Voltaire" and "Severed Heads" ( An Austrailian electronic/experimental band from the '80s) . So in other words anything goes. I've recently been going through my "archives" from early 80's to early 90's and cleaning stuff up in the computer from old 4 track tapes and cassettes and will hopefully put together a website of some sort with it on there sometime soon. I'm flattered anyone would be interested in it besides myself, Thanks for asking.! :)

Gee, if you are really interested I'll try to get something on myspace or somewhere else. Yes, Tom Ellard aka SH is still out there. He did this song "Pilots Hate You" that's really good, the video is pretty good too but he's unfortunately sort of "politicized" himself which kind of leaves a bad after taste with me. Not that I disagree with his core views ncessarily but He's decidely gone left wing these days . I don't care to hear hear one sided arguments as I learned from getting into Cabaret Voltaire there's no such thing as black and white, just present the evidence and let your audience draw thier own conclusions. But, aside from that I think Severed Heads ranks as one of the most original and creative groups to come out of the 80's. I met Tom during the "Rotund for Success" tour back in '89? after the show along with Stephen Jones the video guy. Tom is a genuinely eccentric character just like his music. I asked him some pretty reasonable questions and he seemed interested only in "taking the piss out of me" as the English say. I can remember walking away and saying to myself "what the hell was that all about?!" . I'm sort of returning the favor to him on his posts at youtube

My big leather mousepad...

Postby white city » Sun Jan 14, 2007 11:31 am

Hi all,
I remembered this old thread and thought that I would share
with you from where I submit my manic drivel.

It's taken a couple of weeks to get used to not be sitting at a desk on an office chair to surf and so on but it's becoming second nature now. That acre of leather is way more comfortable that my office that's for sure.

My family say that since the internet moved into the living room they see more of me which has to be a good thing. I was posting too much anyway.

Cheers all,
Jon

Jon: You have a room like that and kids?

They must be locked up in another area of the house, likely a velcro room. :)

Yeah, We lock them in the cellar!

Seriously, they have leant to pick up and put away now so at least ONE room in the house is reasonably tidy! You should see THEIR room!

Now that is quite a different matter sometimes ;-)

The quaint english expression is "floordrobe"....! It sums up kids and floors pretty well IMHO!

AND I can't complain about that - a couple of pics of my workshop

Jon, you've inspired me. I think I'm ready to have my family room/office look like this! Really nice job !

To do this right, I think I need: a big screen (computer /TiVo/HD combo), sound system and wireless keys/mouse, and black leather ;-). Do you use any work surface for your keys/mouse – I think I’d need that.

I notice you have a vid camera – ready for a Skype vid call ?;-) (webcam/firewire connection doesn’t work yet: ‘USB’ only at the moment).
