Poetry? no.
Song lyrics? only the odd goofy song.
Stories? can't finish 'em.
Drawing/painting? not since art class.
Mathematics? Ah, there's a media I can DO something with.

Don't think so? Guess again. I have always been fascinated with the concept of building curves from straight lines. The old string art from the 70's gave me a base, and I took it into three dimensions. Here are a few examples, and I welcome any comments.

Really nice constructions.
Have you tried :
Placing one on a rotating base with a well focused light source to throw the shadows on a wall..........

oops 60's flashbacks again

Thanks for all of your kind words! It's nice to get this kind of encouragement.
I want to get enough of these together and approach a gallery about having a show of some sort.
Carbon, I have thought of using a spotlight to project shadows, but not the rotating platform. Great idea!

Myth

What size are these - it's hard to gauge the second two images

Maybe it's worth thinking about the light refraction properties of the "string" and construct some from one of the plastics that change their properties under tension? Some low powered laser lighting might get some interesting effects through a "nest" of such strings of ploymer?

The second piece is small, only about 7" high. The third one is by far my biggest piece at 42" wide and 19" high.
I like your idea of using something that would react to laser light. That would make for a cool installation at a gallery. When I get to that point, I'll be sure to discuss it with the owners.
Oddly enough, the strings are not under a great deal of tension. I do that for the sake of longevilty, as higher-tension might lead to breaking in the long term.

42" wide and 19" high - wow, that's pretty large

You must have plenty of free space to work in!

Mythosian,
These are really nice. Have you ever considered using fiber optics as your tension line/wire and producing these on much larger scale for an outdoor installation?

Very Nice! Your "Wave" would make a great large sculpture - it's very rythmic. I hope you don't mind but I played around with it a bit in Paint Shop:
