hi all
just wondered if anyone can tell me whether or not thomas dolby has done a uk tour in the past ? if so when and where did he play ? also what he has played if anyone has seen him in the last ten years.
Incidentally the scala in london where he is playing is a former cinema in kings cross where i spent many times at film festivals over 10 years ago

The Scala was a fantastic independent cinema up until about 95 - I attended many allnighters at the weekends plus a few horror/fantasty film festivals around the late 80s until it's close - I think the last programme I saw was "From The Velvets to The Vodoids" - a collection of films celebrating the New York alternative/punk scene - must have been about 1993.

Thomas' only major tour was The Flat Earth tour in the mid-80s (I think there is a list of dates in the tour section) but he performed many times in the early eighties and returned for some shows to promote Aliens Ate My Buick in 1988 and Astronauts and Heretics in 1992.

When he played in london in 88 it was at the Town and country club, Kentish Town, with Sam Brown i think.

At the tender age of 16 it was my first time in london, just with a mate from my school. We travelled from Cornwall just for the gig, got right in front of the stage, and loved every minute.

It will be great to see him in action again at the Scala, this time it's just a 5 minute journey down the road.

Back in november 1982 as a fifteen year old a see Thomas at the Marquee club in Wardore street w1.
As i remember he covered the whole of The goldern age of wireless.
It was one of my first gigs, but one that has stuck in my mind.

Just found out today about the Scala gig, and have booked immediately. Fantastic! We'll be travelling from Lincoln and Birmingham for the show, and I cant think of many gigs I have looked forward to so eagerly.
