Simply...it allows each of us to talk about what we are doing at a specific time...like now. Or what we have accomplished...during the day.
Or simply...to say hi!

We were just shopping at trader joe's, and now i am starting a new thread with the help of a ginger martini...real ginger!
By the way...you guys are great!
cheers!

Nice idea, Rick!

I just got back from a boardgame bash in the parlor with my fellow hall residents. There were a bunch of new boardgames and each time you won, you got a raffle ticket (everyone started with one raffle ticket). I played Sorry!, Candyland, Yahtzee, and Cranium. I won Yahtzee, so I had two raffle tickets total. At the end, numbers were drawn for each game. I got The Game of LIFE, mainly because only one other person put their raffle ticket in the LIFE bowl, and one of my roommates got Candyland.

I would have liked to play Clue, and as I listened to other girls playing it, I began concocting a Thomas Dolby version of Clue. "Miss Sakamoto...in the Conservatory... with a ray gun..."
There'd also be little figurines of Professor Pyke, Europa, Caroline, etc... and of course TD circa 1982.

Now I KNOW my geekiness has gone off the deep end.

P.S. I still have yet to challenge someone to the Trivial Pursuit Totally 80s I got for Christmas.

A point of order:

There is no Professor Pyke. Magnus Pyke was a Doctor Magnus not a professor.

I've been meaning mention it for ages.

this is not directed at you 80'sGeek! I just happened to remember when reading your post.

Tired and Rainy

Postby fcarter » Sat Apr 14, 2007 1:05 pm

Went to a Kings game lastnight and then slumbered 4 hours and went to work for 4 hours at 6am this morning. Need to check on my rental properties today. If the rain would cease I will venture out, but for now just nesting with the wife. It's a dark & dreary day here....sort of a Cloudburst at Shingle Street if you will.

Beautiful morning here in Old Blighty - went for a (very) short (slow) jog then home for a quick shower. Done the usual Sunday morning jobs like strutting around in the wife's undergarments while washing the dishes etc.

This afternoon I'm going out with my wife and son to Druridge Beach - a lovely English sandy bit of coastline with remnants of World War II coastal defences. We'll let our little 2 year old run wild and use up all his energy before retiring home for a quiet evening.
But the dogs you say they fed you to
Lay their muzzles in your lap
And the lions that they led you to
Lie down and take a nap

I've been listening to the rain that has been steadily falling since 7 p.m. last night, as the Nor'easter-to-be moves, well, northeast to pummel NYC. No music, no TV, no noise from the neighbors, just the rain and songbirds outside. It's lovely.

But now, it's time to get motivated and make good use of the day...

Well, I've just stopped work for a lunch break. I just ate a packet of corn crisps that I bought the other day at the local Chinese Supermarket (I say local, it's in Croydon and it took me a 20 min bus ride to get there (hehe, I rode the train 2 stops without buying a ticket on the way home, aren't I a rebel)). Over the course of the day I've ripped and listened to 4 albums (whilst working of course): Blue is the Colour by The Beautiful South, Acting My Age by Graduate, Raoul & The Kings Of Spain by TFF and Tomcats Screaming Outside by Roland Orzabal. Once I've finished listening to TSO I'm gonna rip a Ryuichi Sakamoto album (can't remember the name of it, and I'm not going downstairs to look). Ah well, back to work, I think I'll tackle my 100 question business studies homework now.

why sunday's are the long dark teatime of the soul

Postby carbon » Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:35 am

Friday night was movie night - Constantine - on my new 8 ft screen.
Saturday was a BBQ with friends feeding the left overs to their dogs.
Sunday.....oh how I loathe sundays
the early hours spent doing price changes to hotel website -then breakfast
Midday/Afternoon - took the mother in law shopping, only made mildly entertaining by pushing the wheelchair at breakneck speed at other shoppers.
Late afternoon - Hotel website changes complete - uploaded

Onto the forum to see if anyone else is having a better day than I am....

its a close race,...I think I log off and teach myself a new chord

Retro gets big gold stars for listening to both The Beautiful South and Roland. Excellent. More teenagers should have fabulous taste in music. :)

Cool, breezy Sunday morning in Austin.

Getting some veggies planted in the garden, then off to work on the libretto for the rest of the afternoon...

Well, when I got up this morning I had this dieing urge to listen to Rotterdam, so I did :D

I abondoned the Sakamoto album, on account of: it was dreadful. Instead I tried out Wings At The Speed Of Sound (hmm, the 1st track sounds just like a TFF), and Pink Floyd's Meddle: hmm, strange.

Anyway I just had a BBQ (is everyone in London doing that today?) and now back to my homework :( I got to question 55 of my business studies, but now I think I'll do some more of my French homework on Renault. I swear, I'm gonna be up until the early hours of the morning doing this all.

Didn't get much sleeplast night on account of a vomiting child. Went to church and played bass in the band, also sang. Tried to encourage a friend who is having marital problems. Took my oldest daughter (not the sick one) to McDonald's for lunch. Came home and did some light house work (vaccuuming) after eating. I am now trying to watch a baseball game (Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinatti Reds).

It's incredibly windy, pummeled by the rain last night. Gorgeous sounds, the wind high in the trees. We still have power...AMAZING! Took the dogs out before work, Neither one would poop with the weather being what it is. Both just turn and stare at me til we go back in. Green tea with ginger...g'morning!

I woke up this morning at 6:51 as planned and hopped in the shower. This weekend I was drunk and managed to fall out of the shower in my apartment and somehow break every shower curtain rod, towel rack and hand towel rack in the entire bathroom in one swoop. (Being drunk in a one bedroom apartment spells collateral damage.) I got the wonderful privelege of sampling some moonshine at my freinds brother's house. I now know why they make it in gasoline tanks....its effing gasoline!!!! Washed that down with some sort of gin that I could swear is was actually Brut for men.

I watched a movie called Supersize me and am now stricken by an abject fear of eating fast food. I dont want my organs to shut down. Of course in order to maintain balancein my life I hope to move up to drinking old english this next weekend. (the furniture polish not the malt liquor.)
