Moderators

Postby Lunesse » Wed May 05, 2010 1:32 pm

I'd like to happily announce that our community here has two new moderators, but longtime members....Merujo and White City. One on the East Coast, one over on the other side of the Atlantic. Both chock full of Thomas Dolby information and a desire to make this community even better!

They are here to help me keep the boards happy and fun, to welcome new users and make sure everyone has a good time. We don't have many spammers or trolls at all, something I work very hard at, but should one arise one of us will be up and awake and hopefully able to deal with anything that comes up in terms of cranky users, disputes, spam, etc.

Any issues with functionality, lost passwords, etc., should still come to me. =)

Great to see you getting more support from the forum Lunesse, and what a great choice of new moderators. We remain in safe hands. Great job over the last 4 years. WOW, is it really 4 years??

Well done and good luck Melissa and Jon.

What was that the automatic doors in The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy say?

Something like that anyway. I'm glad to have the chance to.

Cheers,

Yay! Haven't been able to visit for a while, but saw this and had to add my vote of confidence in Merujo and White City. Hope this group doesn't keep you *too* much on your toes...

Congratulations, and good luck.

As an administrator on another board that has a lot of petulant teenagers, I'm almost jealous of your flock.

Congrats you two!

I think the doors say "I'm pleased to be of service" of course in a self-satisified way.

Excellent choices, Lunesse! I hope that Merujo and White City have an easy time of it but I suspect that's just wishful thinking on my part. I have no doubt they will soldier through with grace as they have always done.

I'm still waiting for my 80s-style "Deputy Moderator" lapel pin. I did find a "Hall Monitor" one for Lunesse, though: http://rlv.zcache.com/hall_monitor_star ... n2_210.jpg

Just a quick reminder - if a spam message sneaks its way through, please let one of the moderators know so we can remove it. The spam-a-rama crew gets sneakier by the day, so rather than engage them in a thread, zap a PM to one of us. We will see it swiftly dispatched. Sent forever into the ether. Gone to the great spam graveyard. It will be ex-spam.

Pinin' for the fjords,

Hey, I just posted in the TIme Capsule Tour 2012 thread and it seems to have been uploaded immediately without prior moderation! Outstanding! That's the one thing that has been off putting to me since joining this forum a few weeks ago. The pre-moderation very much made the Forum lose "stickiness" and the impetus to be a part of it was considerably lessened. I like discussing my favorite music acts but am somewhat ambivalent to the social aspects of fan forums. Nevertheless, when OMD toured in The States last year, I joined the OMD forum and have maintained close ties and posting to it for over a year now. It's a good way to keep up with things. I may do the same here, now that it has become more immediate and responsive to its members postings.

that is mostly my bad, and I apologize.

I am in charge of the back end for all the merch on this tour, and it has been eating up my time hugely.

I am sincerely sorry about that! Welcome!
