Hello FES board! Though not a newbie to TMDR electronic posting (communicated and actually sold a vintage Micromoog some years back on the AOL based portal), I finally have found the time to rejoin with other fans here. Have enjoyed the re-birth of Thomas' work live via the Sole Inhabitant vehicle. Look forward to the new digital EP deployment, and hope that the full release manifests in a multichannel blu-ray disc.

Cheers!

I joined the community roughly 12 months age, and have loved it ever since! It is exciting to be witness to some of the first new material of Thomas Dolby in many years! Amerikana and Oceanea are simply amazing works and some of the finest, I must say, of the entire year.

im totally new here. i just got into thomas about 3 hour ago or was it a few weeks. i new of the one hit but then i turned myself on to the live album that was just released. they had a copy of it at my college radio station so i used it for my air check. i think im going to play all the songs off of it once i get my show going. the live version of hyperactive is amazing.!

Hiya from Cambodia
Been a lurker for a fair while, finally thought I would introduce myself.
Being an older kind of guy, first saw TD when he was in the Lene Lovich band in London! Then started collecting his solo stuff from when I first heard Europa. Kinda lost touch from the mid 90s when I got out of Dodge and started doing development work with vulnerable kids around the world, but have been catching up on what I've missed over the last couple of years now that the Internet super highway has connected to the jungle paths....

Hello, everyone :) I am happy to be a new resident of the Flat Earth, I have been a big Dolby fan ever since I met my boyfriend (he turned me on to everything T.D. has done). Looking forward to being a member of the community, and spreading Mr. Dolby's music like wildfire!

Hello to all and thank you for having me on board. Only just the other night by good fortune did I hear of the impending new album. From what I've read about it so far, "A Map Of The Floating City" sounds like yet another distinctly Dolby vision, promising to soar and frolic with such uniquely architected scope. Needless to say, I am thrilled to hear more. And at the risk of walking into a new place and asking the same question that's already been asked a zillion billion times, is there any specific word yet on touring dates or locations?

Thanks again to Thomas and all,
Hatlessjames

PS: What do Dolby fans call themselves? Flat Earthlings?

Hello to all fellow Thomas Dolby fans. I'm here in Oxford, England, and have been a huge, devoted fan since the 80s. I'm soooooooo excited that he's still making music and got to see him a couple of years ago. A dream come true. Best wishes to all my fellow fans :D

For any new people who are reticent to make that tricky first post, here's some advice that's as true today as it was back in 1947.

To sum it all up, if you're feeling shy just buy a sweater, listen and don't worry about your oscillator. This film is bewitching.

Hey there folks.

I'm a more recent Thomas Dolby fan, mostly courtesy of Floating City.

I made a topic on this board, but I'm not sure if I was supposed to, since a message popped up saying it needed to be approved by a moderator.

Hopefully this will go through, otherwise I'll be annoying a moderator again (sincerest apologies if I do, and this has...)

Welcome Teuthis.

Don't worry, the first few posts go through a moderator just to help eliminate spam-bots. Once you're established as human (or as near to human as any of us round these parts!) you won't be moderated.

I think she'd say it's a toss up between Cloudburst and the new Spice Train, since those are the ones I hear her singing most often :)

Playing the Floating City game certainly renewed my appreciation for TD's work, and I think it deepened EyesRedLipsBlue's as well.

Hey folks, it's mary27182 from the game, but apparently I've been signed up here since April '06. '06 was the beginning of my move to the Dark Side (administration) at work, so it's no surprise I only have like 4 posts here. *sigh*

Hello - signed up and immediately promoted my band which isn't really in the spirit of things is it? Apologies. Anyway, Thomas is a hero, I first got into him with the Steve McQueen/An Alien Stole My Buick era though the early hits I knew from TOTP etc. I think the way he's approached the new record, using the online films about recording is great. Looking forward to seeing him on the UK Tour, the fact that I am going to see him live is pretty surreal as I never expected it to happen ever again.

Greetings, Finally arrived here after encouragement from my very old friend 98/1000. I am originally from New Brighton, Wirral, but I've been a Dorset resident since 1985. Good to meet some of you on Sunday. Wireless, it made me feel like I belonged when you introduced yourself. Thanks a lot. :D
