This just reminded me of a business trip to the US in 2007. During a meeting, one of my colleagues who had travelled over with me excused himself by saying he was "going outside to smoke a few fags". This resulted in our guests horror, quickly emphasizing the company's inclusion policy and condemning any form of violence. He then sheepishly had to explain he just needed a cigarette.......
