TD blinkies! I'll take requests!

Postby BlueSilver » Sun Sep 03, 2006 5:29 pm

Tee hee.
Boredom was bound to ensue in my long hours in the computer lab this fabulous holiday weekend.
And, the product of this boredom?
Two blinkies. With those little pixelated computer dolls.
I didn't conjure the blocks or bodies out of nowhere, but everything else is heavily edited. Shirt from one of them, made from scratch.
What do you think?

And, since I'm bound to be bored again before the holiday break is up, I thought I'd take requests. If you have one of the computer dolls in mind, or you want me to make a certain type of one (wearing whatever), I would make you a blinkie, then you'd have your own cute little pixelated homage to Mr. Dolby. ;)

Just make sure you tell me what you want the blinkie to say (keep it fairly short), what sort of doll you want, colors, that type of thing, and I'll be happy to create pixel magic for you!

lol

EDIT: More boredom. I told you so.

I've never seen these before, how cute are they!!!

I've got a website, so could you make one for me please? I like the little "She Blinded me with Science" doll. Oh and the one right at the bottom saying "Thomas Dolby"...any chance I can have that one please?

Thanks very much!

Hey, Dolby_The_Wonderman, sorry it took so long, but I finally finished your blinkie. :) I had a doll to go with it, but when I saved it to photobucket, it kinda messed up the colors so I made the blinkie without it.

I still have the doll though if you want that too.

I don't know how I missed this before, really impressed, great work.

I like the "hot sauce" blinkie.....

Can you do it with a transparent backgound so the doll and words really stand out?

I'd love to pop it on site site (nothing more than links that I use really) and make it a click thru or something, if you have a site it could be a link back so you get credit & (very unlikely I recon!) any passing traffic.

I'm not sure how to make them with transparent backgrounds, or else I would... :(

So if anybody knows and would like to educate me feel free!

Hi bluesilver

I've beentrying to do this today, seem to have succeeded.

You can do this by altering the properties of one pallet colour to be transparent (I've tried it in paint shop pro) - under "colours" I selected "set pallet transparency" and selected the background colour.

Obviously this needs to be done on all the images in the blinkie and the background colour shouldn't appear in the actual doll, message etc as this will have the undesirable effect of letting the background show thru!

To see if it works, overlay the image onto another one, see what happens.

Let me know how you get on!

Heh.

Here at school, I use msPaint and a tiny freeware program called UnFreez to animate.

Do you have your own PC ar are you using the schools, I ask as I might be able to find a prog you can download that has the same features as the one I use.

If not, I'll happily mod an existing blinkie for you to try?

Stamped

Postby Mark Gardner » Thu Sep 28, 2006 11:21 pm

Yeap

My misses was banging on the bedroom floor!

We had a long day working at verious stuff, went out for an hours hard badminton then I jumped on the forum.

I've put a modified blinky on my site, it doesn't show up much different as I've not got a background, but I'll sort it out later and pop a credit there.

Now work is calling, what a bummer!

Ah. See, I have Paint Shop Pro 8 at home (but animation shop doesn't work), so maybe I could try it then?

Damn work!

I have to work tonight!

5-8 at Arby's.

OH JOY.

Yeah, what a pain. It's great you've got PSP though, you should be able to do it. I'm on version 7 so it may be a bit different to yours'

I'm not sure on your creation process: if you set up a basic image with transparency you can prob run it through your other progs?

There are several people here for sure who know a lot about image work, I suggest you cast your bread on the waters.......
